All-Ukrainian event “Embroidering Ukraine with science”

On November 2, 2022, the All-Ukrainian event “Embroidering Ukraine with Science” was held at the Yuri Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University. The event was initiated by the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

In Chernivtsi region, the event was held with the support of the Council of Young Scientists of the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University, the Association of Alumni of the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University, the Council of Young Scientists at the Regional State Administration of the Chernivtsi Region, and the public organization YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE.

The purpose of the All-Ukrainian event is to involve Bukovyna scientists, graduates of the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University, teachers and the public of the region to embroider one of the largest maps of the Chernivtsi region.

Since ancient times, embroidery has been considered a spiritual and deep activity, in which considerable meaning is invested. This knowledge was passed down from generation to generation, and the healing and profound properties of embroidery are still talked about today. That is why the embroidered map of Ukraine will become a kind of talisman and protection of Ukraine.

The guests of honor at the event were Oksana Sakrier, director of the Department of Education and Science of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration; Halyna Melnychuk, Deputy Head of the Information and Analytical Department of the Chernivtsi Regional Council; Head of the Department of Science and Innovation of the Department of Education and Science of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration Yana Tikhokhid; vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work on issues of educational and educational process, professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Knight of the “Order of Princess Olga” III degree, Honorary Citizen of Chernivtsi Tamara Marusyk; vice-rector for scientific work, professor, doctor of technical sciences Andrii Samila; Chairman of the Association of Alumni of Chernivtsi National University named after Yury Fedkovich, Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Basics of Health, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Yury Moseichuk; Acting Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor Iryna Horokholinska; Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences Mykola Shkriblyak; Myroslav Zhavoronkova, an assistant of the department of decorative and applied and fine arts, honored master of folk art of Ukraine; head of the public organization “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE”, head of the scientific project “Innovative model of implementation and formation of children’s patriotism by means of Olympic education”, candidate of sciences in physical education and sports, associate professor Yaroslav Galan, as well as deans of faculties, well-known scientists of Ukraine, university graduates, teachers, employees, students and graduate students.

Oksana Sakrier, Halyna Melnychuk, Yana Tikhokhid, Tamara Marusyk, Andriy Samila, Iryna Horokholinska and Yuriy Moseichuk, Ihor Nakonechny, Yaroslav Zorii, Viktoriya Gatrych received the honorable mission to make the first stitch among the guests.

The demonstration performance was presented by the collective team of the Faculty of Physical Education and Human Health under the leadership of Candidate of Sciences in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor, Master of Sports in Rhythmic Gymnastics Olena Moroz.

During the event, Mykola Shkribljak told the participants about the history of embroidery in Bukovyna, introduced them to interesting facts related to this topic, told about ethnographic regions, regional peculiarities of sewing, peculiarities of Bukovyna folk clothing and the deep spiritual meaning that is embedded in the process of embroidery.

Myroslava Zhavoronkova characterized the styles of embroidering the map of Chernivtsi region, told about the stages and techniques used for embroidery, and also informed the participants about the most basic styles used when embroidering the map of Bukovyna.

The participants received certificates certifying their participation in the event and indicating their personal contribution to the development of science in Ukraine based on the example of our region.
