Participation in the All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference “Olympic Movement in Ukraine – Past and Present”

On February 6-7, 2025, the All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference “The Olympic Movement in Ukraine – Past and Present” was held at the Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University. For the third year in a row, the NGO YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE “has been a co-organizer of this scientific forum for three years in a row.

During the plenary session with a report on “ANALYSIS OF THE USE OF BASKETBALL IN UKRAINE AS A TOOL FOR SOCIAL INTEGRATION AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ADAPTATION: THE EXPERIENCE OF THE ‘BASKETBALL-KTN’ PROJECT “was presented by the head of our organization, PhD in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor Yaroslav Galan.

This report is based on the results of a sociological study conducted within the framework of the European ERASMUS+ Sport project “Creating a hybrid model of a knowledge transfer network for the promotion and development of basketball / BASKETBALL-KTN“, implemented by the NGO “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE” and co-funded by the European Union. Young athletes under the age of 18, their parents, and future coaches were interviewed in Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions.

The study resulted in a number of recommendations for the development of basketball as a tool for social integration and psychological adaptation of young people. In particular, the importance of

• improving sports infrastructure,
• training of qualified specialists,
• active use of digital technologies.

All of this will contribute to more effective adaptation of young people and increase their motivation to play sports.
