Bicycle racks were handed over to the Velykokuchuriv community as part of the NUDGING2MOVE project
On May 19, at the Velykokuchuriv Village Council in Chernivtsi District, Chernivtsi Oblast (Ukraine), a symbolic event took place during which bicycle parking structures were handed over to the community for subsequent installation as part of the project “Promoting active mobility and living for healthier and sustainable cities through nudging / NUDGING2MOVE,” co-funded by the European Union.
The NUDGING2MOVE project aims to develop and implement tools based on the concept of “nudging” that encourage active mobility, a healthy lifestyle, and the creation of a healthier and more sustainable environment in communities.

During a preliminary workshop for educators held as part of the NUDGING2MOVE project, a survey identified a number of practical “nudges” to encourage an active lifestyle. Among the proposed initiatives, the installation of bike racks received particular attention as a simple and effective solution to support active mobility in the community.
As part of this initiative, the Velykokuchuriv community was symbolically presented with bicycle rack structures for subsequent installation by the community. This step aims to create more convenient conditions for using bicycles, increase residents’ physical activity levels, and promote eco-friendly modes of transportation.

The head of the public organization “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE”, Candidate of Sciences in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor Yaroslav Galan, noted the importance of supporting local initiatives aimed at promoting physical activity, a healthy lifestyle, and active mobility. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation with the community in implementing practical solutions within the project.

During the event, the community was also presented with a letter of appreciation for its support, cooperation, and active participation in the implementation of the NUDGING2MOVE project.
Such initiatives demonstrate that even symbolic yet practical steps can contribute to the development of a culture of active mobility, a responsible attitude toward one’s own health, and the sustainable development of communities.
