A forum of teachers was held in Chernivtsi
On 21 October, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University hosted a forum for teachers on the topic of ‘Increasing the level of physical activity of schoolchildren as a strategic element of the state’s defense capability.’’ The forum was organized by the Faculty of Physical Culture and Human Health, the Department of Education of the Chernivtsi City Council, and the NGO YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE and United by Sport.
The aim of the forum was to unite the efforts of educators to increase the level of physical activity of schoolchildren, which is an important factor in the formation of a healthy and conscious society. The event was attended by physical education teachers, heads of art and aesthetic and sports clubs, and other colleagues.
There were also demonstrations by first-year students under the guidance of Associate Professor Olena MOROZ and the TaiS Academy of Dance, Sports and Health, a modern choreography group led by Ivanna YASENCHUK, a master’s student majoring in 017 Physical Education and Sports.
The Rector of the University, Professor Ruslan Biloskurskyi, welcomed the audience, noted the importance of holding such events in the current environment, and spoke about the achievements of the University and the Faculty of Physical Culture and Human Health. Nadiya Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Education Department of Chernivtsi City Council, emphasized the relevance of the forum’s topic and shared her experience of national and patriotic education of schoolchildren. The Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Human Health, Professor Yuriy Moseychuk, spoke in detail about the structure of the faculty, its achievements, and its staff.
Associate Professor Iaroslav Galan, head of the research topic, presented activities for students and projects implemented for schoolchildren, focusing on the importance of physical activity in modern conditions. Andrii Zaplitnyi, champion of the European Games 2023, European champion, and winner of the World Karate Championship, spoke about his sports career and years of study at the university. Associate Professor Andrii Ognistyi, Head of the Ternopil Oblast Branch of the Olympic Academy of Ukraine, shared modern practices for developing leadership skills in students during physical education classes. Angela Fokina, President of the NGO United by Sport, spoke about the organisation’s projects, plans for the future, and cooperation with physical education teachers. Olena Moroz, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, focused on the importance of cheerleading and the involvement of teachers in this area.
Each participant received a certificate for four academic hours (0.13 ECTS credits) from the NGO YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE’.
During the forum, topical issues of physical activity development, new ways of integrating physical education into the educational process, as well as strategic approaches to improving the physical fitness of schoolchildren were discussed.
This forum was an important step towards promoting a healthy lifestyle among young people, bringing together teachers, scientists and practitioners to increase the level of physical activity among students, which is an important element in building a strong and healthy nation.
