Chernivtsi hosts environmental event dedicated to European Youth Week and National Environment Day
On April 16, an environmental event dedicated to the European Youth Week and National Environment Day was held!
The public organization “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE” together with the Department of Social Policy of the Chernivtsi City Council and the Department of Family and Youth Affairs held an environmental event “Eco-Toloka”. The motto was: “Let’s make our city greener and cleaner together!”.
The goal of the event was to motivate everyone to collect garbage near public recreation areas, parks and their homes, engaging young people in an active environmental initiative to improve the environment.
The head of the NGO, PhD in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor Yaroslav Galan, welcomed the participants of the environmental event and emphasized the importance of environmental initiatives in today’s environment and the need to hold such events with the involvement of volunteer leaders from among the youth. Ihor Basko and his colleagues Tetyana Danska and Tamara Roschebak, from the Family and Youth Department of the Social Policy Department of the Chernivtsi City Council, also greeted all those present.
The event was joined by representatives of the Youth Center of Chernivtsi “Youth Residence”, representatives of the Committee on Sports, Tourism and Ecology in the Chernivtsi Youth Parliament, volunteer leaders, the public, and students.
Svitlana Duditska, Chairman of the Board, PhD in Physical Education and Sports, also took an active part in the preparation and organization of the event.
The event was an excellent example of how sports and environmental initiatives can unite society by raising a conscious generation ready to take responsibility for the environment. Thanks to such events, we not only keep our parks and streets clean, but also contribute to the pan-European initiative to preserve the environment by demonstrating activity and initiative during the European Youth Week.
