The implementation of the international project “Shared Memories” was discussed in Chernivtsi

May 25, 2026, the Department of Social Policy of the Chernivtsi City Council hosted a working meeting between the department’s director, Natalia Frunze, deputy director Marina Skrypnyk, the head of the public organization “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE”, PhD in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor Yaroslav Galan, representatives of the Chernivtsi Municipal Territorial Center for Social Services “Turbota“, and the University of the Third Age.

During the meeting, participants discussed the main stages of implementing the international project “Shared Memories: Learning from the Past to Build Europe’s Future“, which is co-funded by the European Union.

The project aims to preserve historical memory, support intergenerational dialogue, and strengthen mutual understanding between generations through the study of personal stories and life experiences of older adults.

As part of the project, a series of interviews with students of the University of the Third Age is planned. Similar interviews will also take place in other European countries involved in the project. The collected testimonies, memories, and life stories will make an important contribution to the preservation of cultural and historical heritage and will help pass on valuable experience to future generations.

Diana Tymoshchuk, an administrative staff member of the non-governmental organization and a project participant, took an active part in the meeting; she will be directly involved in organizing and conducting interviews with participants of the University of the Third Age.

The meeting participants expressed their readiness for further cooperation and noted the importance of the project for the development of intergenerational dialogue, the preservation of historical memory, and the promotion of European values.
