Sports and Recreation Event for Children at the “Oikos” Camp Organized by the Chernivtsi City Council

July 5, 2026, in the Stebnik area of Chernivtsi Oblast, at the “Oikos“ camp operated by the Chernivtsi City Council, a sports and recreational event was held for gifted children and children from disadvantaged groups who were on vacation.

The event was organized by the public organization “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE” in cooperation with the Department of Social Policy of the Chernivtsi City Council, the Department of Family and Youth Affairs of the Chernivtsi City Council, and the administration of the “Oikos” camp.

The purpose of the event was to increase children’s physical activity, foster patriotism, promote orienteering, and encourage recreational and health-improving activities as an important component of schoolchildren’s harmonious development.

The event combined various forms of physical activity aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, developing physical abilities, fostering teamwork, and creating a positive atmosphere among the children.

The program began with a solemn opening ceremony, during which the National Anthem of Ukraine was played. Event participants, camp attendees, and organizers joined in singing it, creating a special atmosphere of patriotism and unity.

Yaroslav Galan, Ph.D. in Physical Education and Sports and associate professor, who serves as the head of the public organization “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORTS. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE,” addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He greeted the children, organizers, and participants, emphasizing the importance of physical activity, promoting sports, fostering a healthy lifestyle, patriotic education, and instilling the values of active and conscious citizenship among children and youth.

Following the opening ceremony, the camp’s physical education instructor, Ilya Dorosh, led an energetic and uplifting warm-up session, in which all camp participants took part. The warm-up helped the children get in the right mindset for active participation, prepare their bodies for the main part of the event, and boost their spirits.

The main part of the program included a sports maze. Oleksandr Bulygin, a candidate for master of sports in orienteering and a graduate of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, explained the rules for completing the course, the basic elements of orienteering, and how to use the cards and maps to the participants.

The children had the opportunity to test their skills in navigating the sports maze, demonstrating their attentiveness, speed, quick thinking, and ability to navigate the terrain.

The event also featured track and field jumping events, the results of which determined the winners among the girls and boys.

Young people took an active part in organizing and conducting the event, serving as judges, coordinating activities, and assisting participants. Such participation is an important step in developing practical skills, a sense of responsibility, leadership qualities, and future career growth for young professionals in the fields of physical education, sports, recreation, and working with children.

An awards ceremony was held at the conclusion of the event. The winners and runners-up received commemorative medals and gifts. An honorary award was also presented to the camp director, Vasyl Bohdanyuk, for supporting initiatives aimed at promoting physical activity, physical education, and a healthy lifestyle among children.

During the event, it was emphasized that in today’s world, physical activity, sports, active leisure, and the development of a healthy lifestyle are extremely important for children’s harmonious development and their physical and psycho-emotional well-being.

The event provided the children with many positive emotions, opportunities for active movement, team support, and pleasant memories.
