International Day of Sports for Development and Peace
On April 6, to the International Day of Sports for the Benefit of Development and Peace, a charity event “Enrich the Ukrainian land with trees” was held on the territory of the campus of the Yuri Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University. The campaign was held jointly with the Association of Alumni of the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University and the Student Parliament of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Human Health. At the beginning of the action, an All-Ukrainian minute of silence was held to honor the memory of the fallen compatriots who gave their lives for the sake of Ukraine, and the National Anthem of Ukraine was played.
The action took place within the framework of the scientific project “Innovative model of implementation and formation of children’s patriotism by means of Olympic education”. The initiator of the action is the head of the scientific project, candidate of sciences in physical education and sports, associate professor Yaroslav Galan, who noted that today the whole of Ukraine is going through an extremely difficult phase that has affected every family in some way. Every day, hundreds of people die, lose their homes and are forced to flee from this calamity, at any moment defenders risk their lives for the sake of the Motherland and a peaceful sky above our heads. Only with joint efforts and efforts are we able to win in this difficult struggle, that is why many willing and caring people have joined our charity campaign for the fate of every Ukrainian. They made a significant personal contribution to help and support their compatriots.
Funds were collected to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will be directed to the needs of our defenders in this difficult time for the country. Also, 30 trees were planted as a symbol of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.
Vice-rector for scientific work, professor, doctor of technical sciences Andrii Samila, dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Human Health of the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor Yaroslav Zoriy, head of the Department of Physical Culture and Basics of Health, joined the action. head of the Association of Alumni of the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University, professor Yuriy Moseychuk, head of the University Students’ Trade Union Organization Vitaly Kindzerskyi, head of the Student Parliament of the faculty Margarita Terletska.
Employees of the university and faculty, students, famous graduates and immigrants from other regions of Ukraine, who are currently in our city, took part in the charity events. The charity event was held with the support of the administration and the Botanical Garden of the Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University. We express our gratitude to everyone who participated in the charity event.
