Basketball event for schoolchildren held in Chernivtsi as part of the European Sports Week

30 September, Chernivtsi Lyceum No. 20 hosted a colourful basketball event for schoolchildren as part of the European Sports Week.

The event was organized by the NGO YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT of Ukraine and the Bukovynian Stars Basketball Club NGO, as well as the lyceum administration.

Schoolchildren who are actively involved in basketball took part.

At the opening ceremony, the lyceum’s principal, Viktor Tomiak, welcomed the students and, wished them to continue playing sports, and stressed that their lyceum is famous for its love of physical activity and the promotion of basketball.

Then, Diana Maksymchuk, a student of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, majoring in Physical Culture and Sports, candidate for Master of Sports in Rhythmic Gymnastics, demonstrated an impressive demonstration performance.

Yaroslav Galan, Chairman of the NGO, Candidate of Science in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor, presented a letter of thanks to Vyacheslav Havliuk, physical education teacher and coach, for his significant contribution to the promotion of basketball in Chernivtsi. He noted that thanks to such specialists, many children are joining this wonderful sport, which not only promotes physical health but also helps to overcome stress and psychological fatigue.

The first-year students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Human Health, specialty Physical Education and Sports, group 102 (specialty: sports games) conducted an exercise for young basketball players with elements of the game, which allowed the participants to immerse themselves in the sports atmosphere.

Three teams were also formed, and then relay races with basketball elements were held under the leadership of Vyacheslav Havliuk. The university students acted as team captains and actively participated in the refereeing of the relay races, setting an example and helping the participants to complete the tasks.

In the end, all participants received commemorative medals in honor of European Sports Week.
