Shared Memories

Shared Memories: Learning from the Past to Build Europe’s Future is an Erasmus+ project aimed at preserving historical memory, promoting intergenerational learning, and strengthening civic engagement in Europe. The project is based on the idea that the personal memories of the older generation are an important source of knowledge for young people and can serve as a foundation for a better understanding of history, democratic values, and a shared European future. Special attention will be given to the creation of digital educational resources, including a multimedia platform, a digital archive, and a methodological guide on intergenerational learning. Information and outreach activities will help ensure long-term impact and sustainability of results across various European countries.

It aims to preserve historical memory, promote intergenerational learning, and encourage civic engagement. It focuses on collecting and documenting the testimonies of older adults, assessing young people’s perceptions of history, developing interactive intergenerational workshops, creating open-access educational resources, and strengthening European values, ensuring a long-term impact on historical awareness and democratic education.

The main objectives of the project are: to preserve and promote historical memory; to strengthen intergenerational ties through educational formats; to study young people’s historical knowledge and perceptions; to create modern, open-access digital resources; and to support democratic education, civic participation, and European values.

The project will produce:

• A digital archive of European memories with over 100 testimonies;
• A report analyzing young people’s knowledge;
• A methodological guide on intergenerational learning;
• A multimedia platform featuring videos, podcasts, and interactive tools, as well as over 50 intergenerational workshops.

In addition, 5 national multiplier events will ensure the wide dissemination of information, promoting historical awareness, civic engagement, and European identity.
