BASKETBALL-KTN

The public organization YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE together with partners is implementing the European Union ERASMUS-SPORT project entitled “Delivering a hybrid knowledge transfer network model for basketball engagement and development / BASKETBALL-KTN.” This project aims to support and develop basketball through the introduction of modern approaches and innovative technologies.

The main goal is to create a knowledge network that brings together young people, coaches, and experts to share experiences and learn. The hybrid model will provide both online and offline opportunities for training and knowledge sharing. Cooperation within the project will help create a sustainable platform for promoting healthy lifestyles and sports development among young people.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the lives of children and adolescents and has affected their involvement in sports. Access to gyms and public spaces, as well as team sports, have been banned during the quarantine as part of public health restrictions. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought children and sports into a new reality and continues to potentially impact children directly through ongoing sport-related activities. The interruption of education, inability to attend school, and the cancellation of sports activities may have created a sense of isolation that could spread beyond the pandemic itself to millions of children who are vulnerable to new living conditions in society.

The main goal of the Basketball Knowledge Transfer Network (Basketball-KTN) is to create diverse connections to stimulate positive and sustainable change. The consortium seeks to solve the social problem of “inclusion” through basketball, promoting a healthy lifestyle for children under the age of 18.

The BASKETBALL-KTN project focuses on young people and their continuous and active involvement in basketball.

The main goal of the project is to ensure equal opportunities by bringing together small “clusters” of twin clubs and academies to share knowledge and experience. This will form “Communities of Practice” in basketball, which aims to unite more countries and clubs at the pan-European level.

The program will be implemented in 4 main areas of activity:

  • Sustainable development of basketball
  • Psychological support for young athletes and parents
  • Promotion and engagement
  • Sustainability and legacy
